Family Hangout
by Steve BennettKids 6 - 10
Required: Small tree branch, milk bottle caps, string or yarn, beads, scraps of foil, cotton balls
Why not on a homemade family tree, where their likenesses can be enjoyed by all who come to visit?
With your kids, find a small branch, and insert it into a stand made of modeling clay. This is your "family tree." Collect enough milk jug caps to hold snapshots of all the members of your family. Punch a hole in each cap, and thread a length of string or yarn through it.
Next, collect photographs of family members. Cut them so they'll fit inside the caps, and glue them into place. Then hang the caps from your tree. You can further decorate branches with glued or threaded beads, cotton balls, scrap aluminum foil, or tinsel.
Place the finished family tree on the table, by the front door, or in another prominent position in your home. You wouldn't want your guests to miss saying hello to all the important branches of your family during the holidays!
