Make a Holiday Scrapbook
by Janet B. Wright
Getting Started
This holiday, why not create a scrapbook for your family and generations to come? Here's how:
- Buy a scrapbook (available at local discount, craft, or office supply stores).
- Take lots of pictures. Pick out your favorite holiday photos of family members and special times shared together. Make it a tradition to always take a family group photo.
- Save special holiday cards from friends and family, particularly those who are far away.
- Incorporate family holiday recipes. Pick up some pretty recipe cards and ask relatives to handwrite their specialties.
- Include a history of your family tree.
- Dedicate one page to this year's special holiday events. Save the kids' wish lists (and the toys that are hot!), ticket stubs from the Nutcracker and special events, and party invites and their memorable moments.
Memories for Years to Come
- Decide what your New Year's resolutions will be this year and record them. Next year, look back and see how many of them you achieved.
- Create a "Gratitude Page." Have family members list things that they're grateful for this holiday season.
- Give to those less fortunate and dedicate a page in the scrapbook to remember people you've been able to help. This will help pass this tradition of giving on to future generations.
- Make it a tradition to create a scrapbook every year!
