Where can I find a list of important events from a year or decade in history? How do I find out what happened on my birthday in the past? How do I make a timeline of events for a period in history? Where can I find a history timeline for a country or region?

You will find lots of resources in our almanacs for finding out what happened on a specific day, or in a certain year.

This Day in History Page will tell you about today's history, but you can also enter any other date for a different list. Or, you can use the Perpetual Calendar and click on any date.
To find out what happened in a particular year, decade, or century, browse our world history listings, including:
- Year by Year: 1900 to Present
- Ancient History
- World History 1–999 A.D.
- World History from 1000–1899 (A.D.)
- World History from 1900–1999 (A.D.)
- World History from 2000–2005
- U.S. History Timeline
- The Millennium Milestones: The 100 Most Significant Events of the Last Thousand Years
- and the Timeline Archive for timelines on specific topics and events, such as major wars, current events, and entertainment.
