Your Child, Ages 12-18
Dear Parents,
It's easy for teens to take their youth and health for granted. As a parent, it's your responsibility to impress upon them the dangers of smoking, the importance of good nutrition, and how to prevent illness and disease. The health effects of smoking don't often deter teen smokers, so the best way to prevent your teen from smoking may be to cut through the hype about social smoking.
The staples of most teen diets these days seem to be pizza and burgers. You can help your kids eat healthier foods by teaching them about their nutritional needs. Understanding how the body reacts to different types of foods can help to encourage healthy weight loss and discourage eating disorders.
Preventing illness and disease takes a little effort now for a big pay-off later. Keeping your life free of injury, illness, and stress will keep you happy and healthy.
