Dear Parents,

Summer has finally arrived! Soak up those rays of sunshine and take your kids on a fantastic summer vacation to celebrate the sunny season. If you don't have the time to go away, don't despair! You and your children can experience summer fun in your area, and even right in your own home. Unfortunately, every summer has its rainy days, so make sure you're prepared to keep your kids busy when you can't get them outside.

Our Independence Day holiday ideas are sure to make this Fourth of July a blast for your family. Plan a barbecue or a picnic, and cook up some special holiday treats that your kids will love. Get everyone into the spirit of the day by organizing some fun-filled activities or distributing some patriotic printables to celebrate the Fourth.

Summer safety is an important issue, so make sure that your children are well-informed of possible dangers and know how to avoid them. You can ensure that your kids are safely enjoying summer activities by teaching them that exercising caution doesn't have to dampen their summer fun.

"My son, who is turning five this year, has special needs that include a medical condition with overall delays, especially in speech. It's been very difficult to find him an appropriate school (public or private) in New York since he has such a combination of needs. He seems to have great learning potential and is very, very social. He needs extra support to keep attention and, of course, a fair amount of therapy because he was very sick as a baby and functions about 1.5 year behind." — Luisa
