Inventory Your Riches

When money is in short supply, our status is compromised, or we've lost an important relationship, we tend to lose track of the gifts that are left. Focusing on what we've lost, or on what we've never had, we pass right by a storehouse of riches.

  • On an index card or paper, make a gratitude list. Across the top, write "Things I'm Grateful For...." Write down everything that comes to mind in the next five minutes, or just keep writing until your pen stops. Among other things, you might consider: material things, physical traits, your intelligence, special talents, personality traits, learning opportunities, relationships, lucky breaks, your heritage, faith, good health, emotional well-being, your career, or livelihood.
Taking stock of all that you have can make you feel "rich" in minutes.
