Rekindling Romance in Five Minutes or Less

The key to keeping the flames burning is keeping romance alive. Now that you have your attention more divided because you're a mommy, you're going to have to adapt. Don't panic, mommies are good at adapting. You're going to be no different.

Essential

Worried you'll run out of time to send a note? Find a few minutes to visit a free e-card site and prepare notes to send on future days. Hallmark is one company with such a site.

Try to remember to spend five minutes a day being romantic with your husband. This can be something as simple as a full-bodied kiss good-bye in the morning as opposed to the half-focused peck on the cheek. You'd be surprised what a bit of body contact will do. Also, consider slipping a love note into his lunch or brief case. If you can't find any paper or you're too embarrassed to send a note in crayon, consider sending a love note via e-mail. He will love this, even if he doesn't fully admit it.

When you're having dinner, try playing footsie. Bring some candles to the table one night, even if you're serving leftover take-out food. Or serve dinner after the baby is in bed and play nice music. Dancing in your pajamas doesn't have to be unromantic; this may rekindle some spark between you. Once your husband sees the effort you are making, it will be much easier for him to put the right foot forward. Don't be surprised if he starts planning surprises of his own. Nothing is as wonderful as finding notes of your own during the day!

Keep it hot (or cold)! No one likes cold soup or warm, wilted salad. Use a thermos or ice pack in your child's lunch box to help keep his lunch fresh until it's time to eat.
