Toy recalls have been in the news lately, with a rash of defective kids' products posing a danger in the home. As is usually the case with matters of your kids' safety, the best defense is to stay informed. Melissa and Doug Products

Health Canada has issued a recall of several products from the Melissa and Doug line of children's toys, after receiving reports of barium in the surface paint. The affected toys are the Slice and Bake Cookie Set, Shape Sorting Cube, and Pound-a-Peg. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has not yet issued a recall of its own, and no replacement or refund programs have been announced.
