Ingredients: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
1/3 c. Crisco
1/3 c. butter/margarine{softened}
1/2 . sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
If you like ooie, gooie chewy cookies, then you mix all the wet ingredients by hand, no electric mixer!! And then sift dry ingredients together and also stir them into the mixture by hand. However, if you like them thicker and crunchier, use the beaters. But I get the best compliments using the hand method.
After the dough is mixed, add your chips (more, if you're a diehard chocolate lover, like my family).
Drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes. I bake them just til the edges of the cookies are turning golden and you can see golden starting on the tops. I cool them on the sheet for a few minutes before removing.
Other suggestions and comments:
I like to bake only what we're gonna eat, coz we like them warm right out of the oven. So I wrap the rest of the dough and keep it in the fridge til whenever we want more. Can be frozen, too. If you do bake the whole batch at once, put a couple slices of bread on top of the cookies in a sealed container and this will help keep them fresh. Ours never last that long, this is our favorite cookie and my most requested for parties and what have you.
