Dust mixture with the powdered sugar, and continue stirring to thoroughly coat the cereal and separate the pieces.
Cool, and place in an airtight container. Store in a cool place.
Other suggestions and comments:
I have also used a microwave to melt and combine the chocolate and peanut butter, then poured that over the cereal, in a Very Large mixing bowl. That creates another bowl to wash, but the big mixing bowl will be cooler to the touch.
We made several batches of this stuff for a Christmas bake sale, and marketed it as Reindeer Food, in holiday-decorated plastic zip bags. It has that kibble-like appearance, which is possibly why we had leftovers! ;-) Their loss, I tell ya! It's good stuff! Addictive, too. The jr. high boys who bought some of it were Very happy with their purchase, and my husband and kids polished off their supply in a short period of time.
"Puppy Chow" is a very common nickname for this stuff.
The butterscotch version looks even more like Kibble. Hard to say which tastes best! Just substitute butterscotch chips for chocolate.
*Don't give this "puppy chow" to your pups, though. Dogs luv chocolate, but it does Not luv them back!!!
