Estimated time:
45 min. plus cooling time

Number of servings:
24-36 bars

Ingredients: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
1/2 c. butter

1 1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs

1 can (14 oz.) Sweetened Condensed Milk (do NOT use Evap. type!)

6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 1/3 c. sweetened coconut flakes

1 c. chopped walnuts

(optional: 1 c. butterscotch chips)

Directions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Place butter in 9" x 13" x 2" baking pan; melt in oven.

Sprinkle crumbs evenly over the butter.

Pour sweetened condensed milk over the crumbs.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips, then butterscotch chips if desired, and lastly, the coconut. Press down firmly.

Bake 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely; cut into bars.

Refrigerate, if desired (sort of depends how long you plan to store them, vs. Eating them ;-) For short-term, you can store loosely covered at room temperature.

Other suggestions and comments:
When the butterscotch chips are added, these are often called "Seven Layer Bars".

My son enjoyed helping to make these cookies, for a church fundraiser, even though he hates coconut. He could truly take credit for doing a major part of the "work". The cookies were perfect for the "cookies by the pound" sale. Maximum richness for minimal effort, and a holiday Classic.
