Grandma's Oatmeal Cookies

Estimated time:
15 minutes to make, 10 minutes to cook.

Number of servings:
Couple dozen

Ingredients: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
3/4 cup of shortening
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs plus two tablespoons milk
2 cups of flour (regular)
2 cups of rolled oats (oatmeal, but not instant!)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins
(optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts, any kind)

Directions:
Cream together the shortening and sugar with a mixer.
Beat in two eggs and the milk.
Stir in flour, baking powder, soda, cinnamon.
Stir in oats and raisins and nuts, if used.
Drop by teaspoons onto the baking sheet.
Bake at 375 until they are set but not hard, about 8 to ten minutes. (Watch the first batch!)

This is my mother's secret recipe. They are delicious. I cook and I have yet to find a better recipe.
