Other comments or suggestions:
I am unable to offer input, only a voice of bewilderment. I am a 51 year old divorced father of a seven year old daughter and a four year old son. I enjoy a shared parenting (50% legal and physical) arrangement with the children's mother.
Our daughter is very conscious of her appearance and had begun feeling uncomfortable about her 1/4 inch blonde hair on her legs. On a week's stay with her mother, Mom decided to shave her legs rather than deal with the mornings of conflict before dressing in her school uniform. Now, the hair grows back faster and darker. Mom will not prepare her legs for the trip to Dad's house each week and, as her father, I am not inclined to shave her legs, but have empathy for her feelings.
Should I encourage her to shave her own legs at age seven, and should I feel comfortable in trusting her with a razor while in the privacy of the bath, or should I try to convince her not to grow up so fast? What to do? If any other parents have any ideas on this topic, I would like to see them.
