If you're looking for a change, day trips to Maryland and Virginia are just a car ride away from the heat and hectic pace of D.C. America's largest national burial ground, the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, is less than a mile away from the Lincoln Memorial. Among the thousands of white headstones are the graves of President John F. Kennedy and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. If you travel a bit further, the Luray Caverns, in Luray Virginia are a natural landmark and the largest and most popular caverns in Eastern America. Animal lovers will enjoy the Clearwater Nature Center in Clinton, Maryland that features a variety of live reptiles, birds of prey, an indoor turtle pond and a view of life underground. And for theme park fun, Six Flags America located in Largo, Maryland features over 100 rides and numerous shows and attractions. Busch Gardens and Water Country located in Williamsburg, Virginia has more than 40 rides, quaint shops and European cuisine.
