Description of technique:
We have enlisted parents and children and formed a group we call Bully Busters. While it took months to fully form our group the results have been amazing.

We meet one night a week at our local high school and talk about what is bothering the bullies about their victims. Each bully has two minutes to address each issue at which time the victim listens. The victim is then allowed the same time to respond to the bully. We have found that most of the problems stem from one of the children not understanding how the other one lives or his or her upbringing. The parents are then allowed to use the same method with each other expressing how they feel about each child's behavior. We have 4 volunteer teachers who rotate weeks to come to the meeting and express how they feel about the situation and offer solutions as they see what is happening daily when we cannot be there. Each child is also asked to keep a daily diary and read how they felt about their week and any bullying experiences. So far our group has grown from 10 parents and children to 20.

Each time there is a solution found between a bully and victim, both are rewarded with a certificate of friendship and pizza party but most of all applause at being able to compromise and understand how bullying can affect a person.
